Improving teaching and learning is a high priority for schools, yet efforts to make the required improvements often fall short. The Observe and Improve service, in partnership with Barnsley College, brings you a pakage of teaching and learning DVDs.
Overview
These DVDs will be invaluable to secondary schools, particularly those delivering 16-18 year old provision.
They can be used to:
• Train observers and moderate observation
• Train advanced teachers and those involved in promoting improvements in
teaching and learning
• Demonstrate to teachers and managers what outstanding learning looks like
• Develop understanding of how satisfactory and good lessons can be improved
An accompanying CD contains planning and learning materials for each session with a user guide to allow users to make the most of the DVD. The pack includes structured activities to promote reflection on teaching and learning practice and completed observation forms detailing judgements and grades.
Package 1: What does Outstanding Curriculum Learning Look Like?
Disc 1:
• Six good and outstanding curriculum lessons including practical and theory
lessons at various levels, including A level provision, vocational learning and
essential skills
• Interviews with learners and introduction from tutors.
Disc 2:
• Curriculum learning materials for each lesson with accompanying observation
forms detailing judgements and grades for learning and progress. A summary of
the suggested use of each of the filmed sessions for training purposes is also
included.
Package 2: What does Outstanding Tutorial Learning Look Like?
Disc 1:
• Six good and outstanding tutorial sessions including one-to-one reviews and group tutorials covering various topics related to progression, assessment, health and behaviour.
